Work Experience

Work experience provides students who are enrolled in courses of all types and in all disciplines with the opportunity to enhance their school programs. Experiential learning will assist all students who are bound for university, college or the workplace, in making career decisions as well as developing the knowledge, skills and attitudes that are essential in today’s society.

“It is a great pleasure to watch students grow in self-confidence as they gain valuable work experience skills. With the help of their supervisors, students realize their capabilities and learn how to accommodate for their challenges.”

Employers’ comments:

Visually impaired students have more to give to the workplace than one can imagine. Heightened senses make them excellent employees for jobs where others become complacent. Work with them and they will work for you.
Graham Beam, Kalista’s Fine Chocolates

What we have learned from this experience is that our visually impaired COOP student is like any other staff member. You work around their weaknesses and utilize their strengths.
