Bills Win! Silver Cup 2012 Report

Good morning sports fans, this is Newshound Hurst with your morning sports report. Yesterday’s Silver Cup Classic will go down in history as one of the greatest games ever played in the 42 year old history of the game. Justin L’s two long distance touchdown runs proved to be the difference as the Bill’s defeated the Jets by a score of 13-7. Eric M added a convert for the Bills. Ryan R had a Touchdown for the Jets and Touchdown Tony Brown added a convert. Congratulations to Justin for being named the Admiral Sub player of the game.

Winning Silver Cup Coach Mr. Russell called this year’s Bills Team “The most complete team he has ever had the honour of coaching”.  Coach Russell also singled out Nathan L, Justin W, Arvin C and rookies Alex A and Tyler C for their outstanding play in the Championship game. Coach Russell also had a word of praise for the referees.” Mr. Koenig and Mr. Breuls did an outstanding job controlling the game and allowing the players to decide the outcome.” At the end of our interview Mr. Russell asked me to remind all of the WRMS students and my fellow sports correspondent Ace Aitken that in the immortal words of WWE Superstar Ric Flair “diamonds are forever and so is Mr. Russell. WOOOOOO”.

Coach Alfano was gracious in defeat. He said he was proud of his team for the way they competed and was already planning for next year’s game. Coach Alfano mentioned Julia F, Drew H, Brice P, Emma R and T.J. G for outstanding efforts. “This was a learning experience for me and my team and we will be back bigger and better next year.” He also added that he was humbled and honoured to be part of the Silver cup tradition here at the School.

On behalf of the Silver Cup committee I would like to thank all of the staff and students who were involved as coaches, players, cheerleaders, cheerleader coordinators, referees, linesman, field ground crew, the dining room staff for the great BBQ, the “Nerd Herd” for supplying the music and most of all, the staff and students that showed great school spirit and came out and cheered at the pep rally and the game.

That’s it for the sports, have a happy and safe Thanksgiving. I’m Newshound Hurst and I am out of here.
