I felt good before my race yesterday at Brant County's. I felt confident for my run because my previous race at Springwater was really good; I kept the same pace and finished in good time. So, coming to the meet I said to myself "I can do this". I did not let the race get to my head; I just listened to music and relaxed before my race. Getting closer to my race, me and my guide runner Mrs. Sowerby did some warm ups together to get ready. Now, coming to the start line, I got in a good position and the starter shot the gun. I started out really good with a good pace and I started thinking "okay, good start, now just to keep it up". My goal was to keep up with Anthony and his guide runner Mr. Maggiacomo. I was able to keep up with them for 4.5km in the race, with encouraging words from Mrs. Sowerby. So, still thinking positive about the race, I said "well, we've done it this far". The hardest part of this race or the part where the most tension arose was where I was losing Anthony and Mr. Maggiacomo. I found this quite frustrating because I was quite satisfied about how I have done, keeping up with them this far. It just felt like all my hard work and determination went down the drain. Despite my challenges, Mrs. Sowerby did her very best to encourage me and keep me going. The encouragement did help me, Mrs. Sowerby said "you're doing good Adriano, you're running a good race and this is your race". So, I thought about what she said and decided to just run the best I can. Getting close to the end, I felt more energy and killed it to the finish. You're not always going to have the best race; all you can do is your best.
