Silver Cup Football Draft

Good morning Sports fans, this is  Newshound Hurst with your morning sports announcements. There were  plenty of big stories that came out of last night’s WHFL (Wilkes Hall Football League) 2012 Player’s Draft.  The Draft began with the announcement from the new head coach and general manager Mr. Charles Alfano that the new franchise competing for this year’s Silver Cup would be called the JETS.

When I asked Coach Alfano about the reasoning behind the name, his reply was that his team plans on making it to the top at the Silver Cup and nothing gets to the top as fast as a Jet.  Coach Alfano also added there is no greater cheer in sports than   J   E   T   S   Jets   Jets   Jets !!!

In Draft news, Justin L. was selected first overall by the Bills. Coach Russell plans on using Justin as his quarterback. For the Jets,  “Downtown” Anthony B. made Jets football history when he became the first player ever selected by the team.  Anthony will be used as both a running back and wide receiver.

After the draft, I had an opportunity to speak with the Bills Head Coach Mr. Russell and Bills General manager Palmer Douglas. I asked them their thoughts on selecting Justin Lowery with the first pick of the draft.  Coach Russell replied that Justin is a veteran player who has won the cup in the past, he knows what I expect from him and I have no doubt that with Justin’s leadership the Bills will be the 2012 Silver Cup Champions. Other players whom Coach Russell was ecstatic to draft included Eric M, Arvin C, Nathan L and Dan “Crusher” K.

When I asked Coach Alfano  and his assistant Coach Jason M about their draft picks. Coach Alfano said their goal was not just to draft individuals with great football skill but to draft players that would play as a team. He said they were confident that they had selected the right mix of players that could compete for this year’s Silver Cup.

Another big announcement from the draft included word that once again Ms. Aitken will donate a pizza party to the Neill Residence Unit that shows the best School spirit at the Pep Rally on Oct. 2 and at the big game on Oct.3.

I will have more breaking news concerning the Silver Cup as well as an interview with the Silver Cup Director of Cheerleaders Ms. Rondeau, later this week. That’s it from the world of Sports. I am Newshound Hurst and I am out of here.
