February Sharpe Awards

Luqman – SIP
Nominated by: Ms. Potts
Reasons for nomination:
Luqman is very respectful of others. He demonstrates teamwork and cooperation when we work together on various tasks. He shows flexibility by sharing teacher attention. He shows perseverance by trying his best every day. Luqman is setting a wonderful example.

Allison W - Elementary
Nominated by: Mr. Neale
Reasons for nomination:
Allison was honest in that Mr. Neale had made an mistake in awarding her something that she was not entitled to and she returned the award within minutes of the error. She was responsible in letting him know and her honesty was much appreciated.

Kellie K - Secondary
Nominated by: Ms. Russell, Ms. Rondeau, Ms. Newsome
Reasons for nomination:
Ms. Newsome says: Kellie has shown amazing responsibility in residence. She took it upon herself to go out into the community to the Brantford Bookworm in order to volunteer in the evening. In residence Kellie plans and delivers movie nights for her peers and other residences. She shows other students a great deal of respect and will sit and discuss problems with them. Kellie never looks down upon anyone and is always there when a peer needs her help, guidance or support. Kellie uses her time wisely and is able to balance all aspects of her residence life.
Ms. Rondeau says: Kelly's enthusiasm for student council activities has influenced many other students to become involved. She is open to suggestions and does her best to incorportate other's ideas when planning events. She ensures that she informs everyone when delivering the details of the planned events. Kelly has proven that she can obtain and deliver answers to questions asked by staff and students regarding events in a timely manner. This is my first year working with Kelly. Her positive outlook and pleasant nature makes her a welcome addition to the Wilkes Hall girls floor.
Ms. Russell says: Kellie has found the need for job experience and found a part time volunteer job . Many of the girls are impressed that she did this on her own. As well, Kellie is a good friend to all here, even the ones who are difficult. Kellie has shown kindness and patience and even cooperation, even when she didn't need to cooperate.

Kevin S – Deafblind
Nominated by: Ms. Shurvin, Ms. Grant-Simon, Ms. Northey, Ms. Syrett
Reasons for nomination:
Kevin was recently nominated our King of South View for our recent Mardi Gras celebration. He accepted the challenge and rose to the occasion. Kevin represented our residence with smiles, and cooperated with all the task that were presented to him on this special night. He showed team work during his practise rounds in his costume as well as getting familiar and comfortable riding in the float. Kevin definintely showed empathy and kindness towards his queen partner. He allowed her to hold onto his hands and rest next to him when she was unsure. They both shared smiles when announced as one of the semi finals for the grand Queen and King spot. Well done Kevin!
