Ontario Captures Gold and Silver at National Goalball Championships

The Ontario Men’s Team captured their second straight National Goalball Championship with a 9-6 victory over Pittsburgh at the
7th. Annual Junior National Championships held this past weekend.

Kyle Brunet scored 5 goals in the final game and Justin Lowery added 3 to complete the scoring for Ontario. Other members of the Championship Ontario team were Arvin Carandang and Erik Miller. They were coached by Bob Mannen and Mike Breuls.

New Brunswick finished third in the Men’s Division by virtue of a convincing 10-3 victory over British Columbia. The Ontario B team finished in 5 th. place. Members of the team were: Nathan Lamont, T.J. Gill, Bryce Parker and Douglas Palmer. They were coached by Bill Morgan, Shawn Dale and Jeff Kellam.

Justin Lowery (Ontario), Calahan Young (Pittsburgh) and Simon Richard (New Brunswick) were named to the tournament All Star team.

In the Women’s Division, British Columbia scored on their first shot of the game on their way to a 3-0 victory over Ontario to capture the gold medal. Members of the Ontario team were Sarah Hargraves, Jill Havens and Jessica Koury. They were coached by Annette Lisabeth-Carmen and Matt Robinson.

Sarah Hargraves (Ontario), Ashlie Andrews (British Columbia) and Amelie Gionet were named to the tournament All Star Team.
